Allison Banbury

Principal, EtonHouse International Pre-School Hong Kong

BEd (Hons) Curriculum Studies (Early Years)

Allison has specialised in early childhood education throughout her 26 year teaching career. She has worked in a range of settings in various teaching and leadership roles.

Prior to her relocation to Hong Kong in 2010, Allison was Head Teacher for nine years of a nursery school in London, judged by the UK’s Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills (Ofsted) as outstanding. On moving to Hong Kong she took up the post of PYP Co-ordinator in a large international kindergarten, leading the school through to its authorization as an IB World School. Allison joined EtonHouse Tai Tam as Principal in February 2014.

Allison is an advocate of inquiry based learning; creating environments and working with children in ways that embrace their interests, build on their experiences, provoke their thinking, and promote their learning and development. She values play as a medium through which children can make sense of their world and construct meaning.

Allison recognises the significance of relationships within the learning process. She understands the importance of creating a strong sense of community and of working in partnership with parents. She looks forward to welcoming families to EtonHouse Tai Tam and creating a community that works together to ensure success for all children.

Allison lives in Hong Kong with her husband and son, and as a family they enjoy the varied experiences and opportunities that Hong Kong and the region have to offer.
